Reviving a Japanese Masterpiece — The Artisan’s Trio of Bowls
Created by Ichinyo Yamamoto, a Kyoto-based master potter of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware, whose studio is located in Uji. With over fifty years of experience, Yamamoto continues to express the timeless beauty of traditional Japanese ceramics through his art.
This special matcha bowl takes inspiration from Katsushika Hokusai’s renowned “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”, specifically the iconic scene “The Great Wave off Kanagawa.” It captures the movement and power of the waves with remarkable craftsmanship and color.

The Radiant Depth of Kōchi Glaze
The true charm of this work lies in its luminous transparency and vivid hues. Using Kyoto’s traditional Kōchi glaze, it achieves a brilliance and depth that cannot be replicated by modern methods.
Each raised frame surrounding the motif is meticulously applied by hand, layer by layer, creating a sculptural three-dimensional texture.
Through precise craftsmanship and years of refined technique, the bowl exudes elegance and dignity—an embodiment of traditional Japanese pottery at its finest.

Bringing Kyoto Ceramics into Everyday Life
A perfect harmony of skilled technique and refined design—this handmade ceramic masterpiece showcases the beauty of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware in its purest form. Enjoy it as part of your tea ceremony, your daily tea ritual, or as an elegant display accent in your home.
Its artistic presence adds a quiet sense of luxury to any space, blending traditional Japanese aesthetics with modern sensibility.

Presented in a Traditional Wooden Box
Each bowl is delivered in a finely crafted wooden box that matches the atmosphere of the work. The lid is inscribed by the artist’s own hand, serving as both a signature and a certificate of authenticity.
Ideal as a gift from Japan, this piece makes a thoughtful present for special occasions, celebrations, or seasonal greetings.
*Please allow approximately two weeks for the preparation of the wooden box.
