An Adorable Small Plate for Everyday Use

Experience the Timeless Artistry of Kyoto Pottery

From Nagata Studio in Kyoto’s peaceful Kyotanba region, master potter Takuro Nagata, with over 50 years of expertise, introduces this delightful small plate. Skillfully handcrafted, it reflects the elegance and tradition of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pottery.

This versatile plate combines practicality with the charm of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Each plate is carefully shaped using the traditional "press mold" technique, where clay is hand-pressed into molds. This time-consuming process results in unique textures and a distinct handmade quality.

The preserved fingerprints and subtle variations highlight the artisanal touch, making every piece truly unique.

Elegant white porcelain small plate

The porcelain is carefully chosen for its translucence and fine texture. Fired at high temperatures, this plate is as durable as it is beautiful, ensuring lasting use and timeless appeal.

Its compact size and versatile design make it ideal for everyday dining or special occasions.

The pine tree motif, symbolizing longevity and resilience, is hand-painted by Nagata’s wife, a former artisan in Kyoto’s renowned Yuzen dyeing tradition. Her delicate brushstrokes in soft indigo hues add an understated elegance to the piece.

This small plate showcases the best of Kyo-ware, blending artistry and function to delight pottery enthusiasts and collectors alike.
