A Splendid Overglaze-Enamelled Matcha Bowl Inheriting the Tradition of Kyo Ware
An overglaze-enamelled matcha bowl by Kyoto potter Korin Miyakawa. Born as the fourth son of Koun Miyakawa, the founder of the renowned Ryukoku Kiln, he studied pottery under his father.
After further training in Japanese painting, he established his own studio in 1981. Certified as a Traditional Craftsperson of Kyo Ware and Kiyomizu Ware in 2002, he is a potter who has inherited the traditional techniques of Kyo Ware.

Profound and Splendid Decoration Reflecting Traditional Beauty
Drawing on the tradition of overglaze-enamelled Kyo Ware exemplified by Nonomura Ninséi, this piece expresses a classical design with refined elegance.
Utilizing the precise rendering skills cultivated through Japanese painting, the bowl features meticulously detailed painting and profound decoration in rich colors. While honoring traditional styles, it is finished with both splendor and elegance.

A Refined Presence to Grace the Tea Ceremony
The splendid painting covering the entire bowl evokes the decorative beauty cultivated by Kyo Ware and Kiyomizu Ware. The presence created by the combination of classical design and rich colors exudes the distinctive elegance of traditional tea ceramics.
This matcha bowl adds elegance and splendor to the tea ceremony, where the beauty of the seasons is cherished.

Shop Owner's Comment
This is a matcha bowl by Korin Miyakawa featuring a wisteria design on a refined square form.
The surface of the bowl is finished with brushwork, giving it a simple and deeply expressive character. The profound wisteria blossoms painted upon it create a beautiful harmony between the softly flowing form of the flowers and the solid, substantial shape of the bowl.
With its distinctive square shape and the elegance of wisteria, this is a memorable and refined bowl.
