Ikkanjin-adorned tableware for your dining table

The small figure peeking out from the rim of the dish is an "Ikkanjin" (literally, "leisurely person").

The character "閑" means to have peace of mind and enjoy a calm time. This embodies the wish for people to leisurely enjoy their meals and tea breaks, even amidst their busy daily lives.

Each Ikkanjin is handmade, and these charming figures are a signature motif of Yutaka Takeuchi, growing on you each time you see them.

 

The brilliance created by Kyoto ware's traditional techniques

Yutaka Takeuchi's works are skillfully created by combining traditional Kyoto ware techniques such as Kochi ware, sometsuke (underglaze blue), and ittchin mori (slip trailing).

The dishes, featuring patterns drawn with raised lines and vibrant colors, are both splendid and elegant. The meticulously finished details reveal the artist's masterful skill.
