Relentless Pursuit of Glaze Perfection
Yoshinori Izumi, who has his studio in the satoyama of Keihoku, Kyoto, has been researching glazes for over 50 years.
Building on the knowledge gained at the Kyoto City Industrial Research Institute, he has meticulously verified changes due to firing temperature, glaze composition, and flame exposure, pursuing his own unique kiln effects.
Izumi's works are not simply reliant on chance but are built upon a wealth of accumulated data and experience.
Nevertheless, unpredictable changes still occur within the kiln, ensuring that no two pieces ever have the same appearance.

Beautiful Colors Forged by Fire
The Tenmoku and celadon pieces crafted by Izumi exhibit complex color changes created during firing.
The deep gradations formed by the flowing glaze and the delicate kiln variations resulting from mineral reactions create an appearance as if from natural phenomena.

Utensils That Blend into Daily Life
While Izumi's vessels possess high artistic quality, they are also created with an emphasis on daily use.
With decades of experience crafting a wide range of vessels, including sake cups, teacups, and matcha bowls, meticulous attention is paid to the feel on the lips, ease of holding, and overall user comfort.
These vessels have a quiet presence, enhancing food and drink. They are pieces that allow you to enjoy the changing expressions of the glaze and light with every use.

Comment from the Owner
This is a small bowl from the "Ryusei" (Meteor) series, featuring beautiful blue and silver iridescence created through firing.
The flowing glaze pattern is striking, offering various expressions depending on the viewing angle.
It's a convenient size for a soy sauce dish or a small bowl for pickles, subtly adding a touch of elegance to your table.
