Realistic, yet full of charm.
Take a peaceful moment with your favorite cup.

Ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada works from his studio nestled in the countryside of Nantan, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich natural landscapes, he creates pottery that captures animals with warmth and realism.

Each piece is carefully hand-shaped, then trimmed for optimal comfort in the hand.

The soft, milky-white kohiki clay base enhances the gentle texture that only ceramic can offer.

Craftsmanship with warmth

The animal designs are not painted, but carved into the kohiki surface.

Each line carries a sense of motion, giving the piece a unique charm and warmth.

Born into a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware potters, Sawada has been familiar with ceramics since childhood and has over 20 years of experience.

Now in his 30s, he is already a seasoned artisan with expert-level skills.

With refined skills and a fresh perspective, Sawada creates uniquely Kyoto-inspired pieces. We hope you’ll experience the charm of his work in your daily life.
