Realistic, yet endearing.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite cup.

Ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates his works in a studio nestled in the satoyama of Nantan, Kyoto.

Surrounded by nature, he crafts pottery that features lifelike yet heartwarming animal motifs.

Each piece is carefully shaped by hand, then trimmed to ensure a comfortable hold.

The soft, milky white kohiki clay enhances the warmth and texture characteristic of traditional earthenware.

The animal illustrations are not painted but carved into the kohiki surface using a scratching technique.

Each line has movement and expression, giving the piece a unique charm and warmth.

Sawada, the son of a Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware ceramicist, has been immersed in pottery since childhood. He now has over 20 years of experience.

In his 30s, he is already a seasoned artisan with refined craftsmanship.

With a youthful sensibility and polished technique, Sawada creates original Kyoto pottery that blends tradition with personality. Experience the charm in your daily life.

Owner's Comment

This compact cup also works wonderfully as a yunomi (tea cup).

The size fits gently in your palm, and the charming animal design adds a sense of comfort.

It’s a piece that quietly accompanies your everyday meals.
