Realistic yet irresistibly charming.
Take a relaxing moment with your favorite rice bowl.
In the serene countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates traditional handmade pottery inspired by nature.
Surrounded by a rich landscape, Sawada crafts animal-themed ceramics that are both lifelike and full of warmth.
Each piece is carefully shaped and carved for easy handling, reflecting thoughtful design and everyday usability.
The soft white kohiki glaze brings out a gentle, natural texture—one of the defining characteristics of Japanese ceramic ware.

Feel the warmth of handmade craftsmanship
The animal designs are not painted but carved into the kohiki surface, giving the lines movement and presence.
This carving method gives each piece a distinctive charm and artistic expression that speaks of traditional Japanese pottery.
Born into a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware artisans, Sawada has been involved in pottery since childhood, now with over 20 years of experience.
Still in his 30s, he has already gained recognition as a skilled and seasoned craftsman in Kyoto’s ceramic world.

A special bowl for your everyday table
Blending youthful creativity with refined technique, Sawada produces original, Kyoto-style handmade pottery full of individuality and charm.
We invite you to make his work part of your daily life, and experience the warmth and tradition of Japanese ceramics.
