Takunobu Sawada, who has a studio in Nantan City, Kyoto, an area that preserves the idyllic satoyama landscape.
This series by Sawada features realistic yet warm depictions of animals on his pottery.
Each piece is carefully shaped and refined for ease of use, with a milky white hue characteristic of the traditional Kohiki technique.

The animal designs are not painted with a brush but are expressed by scraping away the Kohiki"粉引” layer, giving each piece a unique character and warmth.

Born to a ceramic artist father, Sawada has been passionate about pottery since childhood. Now in his 30s, with 20 years of experience, he is reaching the level of a seasoned veteran.
With a youthful sensibility and skilled technique, Sawada creates original and distinctive works. Add one of his exceptional pieces to your collection.
