Realistic yet somehow endearing.
Take a breather with your favorite cup.
Takunobu Sawada is a potter who has his studio in a satoyama (village-forest landscape) in Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich nature, he creates ceramic pieces featuring animals that are both realistic and warm.
Each piece is meticulously formed, and its shape is carved with ease of use in mind when held.
The soft, milky white slip-coated base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Ceramic ware with the warmth of handmade craftsmanship
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but are expressed by scratching away the slip-coated base.
Each line has movement, resulting in a finished product with unique artistry and warmth.
Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoyaki and Kiyomizu-yaki potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been creating pottery for 20 years.
At 30, he is a craftsman with solid skills, having reached the level of a veteran.

Mr. Sawada, who combines youthful sensibility with refined techniques, creates original ceramics unique to Kyoto.
Please experience its charm in your daily life.
