Realistic, yet irresistibly charming.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.
In the lush, rural town of Nantan in Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada works from his countryside studio.
Surrounded by nature, he creates pottery adorned with animals that are both lifelike and endearing—capturing warmth through realism.
Each piece is carefully shaped by hand and thoughtfully trimmed for ease of use and comfort in your hand.
The soft white *kohiki* glaze enhances the natural warmth of the clay, adding a gentle, handmade touch to everyday life.

Feel the warmth of handcrafted work
The animal motifs are not painted, but rather carved into the *kohiki* surface, creating a unique textural depth.
Each line has movement and character, resulting in expressive works that feel alive and full of warmth.
Born to a family of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware artists, Sawada has been familiar with pottery since childhood. Now in his thirties, he already has over 20 years of experience.
With his refined technique and fresh perspective, he creates original works rooted in Kyoto tradition.

Sawada’s pottery combines youthful creativity and traditional craftsmanship—perfect for bringing a bit of Kyoto into your everyday life.
We invite you to experience the gentle charm of his work firsthand.
