Realistic yet somehow endearing.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.
Takanobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates vessels depicting warm, realistic animals.
Each piece is carefully shaped, and the form is carved to be easy to use when held in the hand.
The soft, milky white kohiki (slipware) base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcrafts
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but created by scratching off the kohiki (slipware) surface.
Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm finish.
Takanobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoyaki and Kiyomizuyaki potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been creating pottery for 20 years.
At 30 years old, he is an experienced craftsman with proven skills.

Mr. Sawada, who possesses both youthful sensibility and refined techniques, creates original vessels unique to Kyoto.
Please experience their charm in your daily life.

Owner's Comment
This rice bowl is the perfect size for everyday dining.
It is made slightly deeper than a typical bowl, making it easy to hold and preventing rice from spilling even when generously served.
The soft white of the kohiki (slipware) and the expressive animals depicted will soothe your heart every time you use it.
With its timeless and simple design, it can be used as an everyday dish for many years to come.
