Experience the Tradition of Kyoto Through Pottery

Established in 1917 at the base of Sennyu-ji Temple in Kyoto’s Higashiyama district, Shunzan Kiln continues to uphold the art of Kiyomizu-ware with a modern touch.

Blending traditional techniques with contemporary design, the kiln creates ceramic pieces that fit beautifully into today’s lifestyle.

Reviving the Legacy of Ogata Kenzan

Ogata Kenzan, a master artist of the Edo period, is known as a founding figure of Kyo-ware and a pioneer in the world of Japanese ceramics.

Recreating the elegance of his masterpieces, “Kenzan-style” reproductions are a signature specialty of Shunzan Kiln.

Crafted for Everyday Enjoyment

Shunzan Kiln’s pottery is created with the belief that art should be both beautiful to look at and a pleasure to use.

The smooth feel and practical usability reflect the care and precision behind every handmade piece.

Bring the timeless beauty of Kyoto’s traditional crafts into your daily life.

Owner's Comment

This matcha bowl is inspired by the work of Ogata Kenzan, a renowned ceramic master of the Edo period.

It features a lavish depiction of Yoshinoyama, a famous cherry blossom viewing site, wrapping elegantly around the bowl’s surface.

Presented in a wooden box signed by the artist, it also makes a thoughtful and impressive gift.
