Kyoto Handmade Ceramic Matcha Bowl - Unkin-zume Pattern

Timeless Beauty: A Fusion of Spring Cherry Blossoms and Autumn Leaves

From the historic kilns of Uji, Kyoto, master artisan Ichinyo Yamamoto presents a vibrant ceramic Matcha bowl that captures the very essence of Japan’s natural beauty. With over 50 years of experience, Yamamoto-san creates handmade pottery that transcends function, becoming a living piece of art for your home.

Whether as a treat for your own mindful rituals or a prestigious gift for a loved one, this traditional masterpiece brings a touch of Kyoto’s elegance to any occasion.

Unkin-zume Pattern Matcha Bowl

Radiant Depth: The Mastery of Kochi Glazing

The hallmark of this bowl is the "Kochi" glaze—a traditional technique unique to Kyoto known for its brilliant, translucent colors and tactile 3D frames. Each intricate cherry blossom and maple leaf is meticulously hand-piped, creating a raised texture that adds incredible luxury and presence to the ceramic surface.

Detailed Floral and Maple Design

Artisanal Elegance for Modern Living

While rooted in traditional tea culture, the rich colors and sophisticated design make this handmade bowl a versatile addition to modern lifestyles. It is a stunning choice for serving artisanal desserts, enjoying a morning café au lait, or displaying as a breathtaking centerpiece that celebrates the changing seasons all year round.

Japanese Hospitality and Gift Box

Presented in an Authentic Signed Gift Box

Your Matcha bowl arrives nestled in a traditional paulownia wood box, an essential mark of quality. The lid is personally inscribed with the artist’s calligraphy, serving as a certificate of authenticity. This presentation makes it an ideal gift for weddings, milestone celebrations, or as a prestigious corporate gesture.

*Please note: Each wooden box is custom-made for the bowl; please allow approximately 2 weeks for preparation.

Shop Owner Illustration

Shop Owner’s Note

This bowl features the "Unkin-zume" design—a stunning composition where every inch is filled with cherry blossoms and maple leaves. In Japanese art, "Un" (Cloud) represents the white clouds of spring blossoms, while "Kin" (Brocade) represents the colorful tapestry of autumn foliage.

By bringing these two seasons together, this bowl allows you to celebrate Japan's seasonal beauty regardless of the time of year. I recommend using this vibrant piece to brighten your table during a special brunch or as a companion for a luxurious dessert moment.

Absolutely exquisite! I know very little about Kyoto ceramics, and had initially eyed it for its aesthetics. Am beginning to learn the many difficult and complex elements it implemented. Honoured to own this piece by Ichinyo. Thank you Kotopotter.

I had been searching for a tea bowl featuring Fujin and Raijin (the gods of wind and thunder) to match my thunder-themed tea caddy.

I've always liked slip-trailing designs, but I really love the arrangement and composition of this tea bowl.

Thank you so much for this wonderful item.

この度はお買い求めいただきありがとうございました。
またの御利用を心よりお待ちしております。
