Artist Profile
Yoshiaki Yamaoka (Zensho)
- Born 1942 in Mie Prefecture, Japan
- Graduated from Kyoto Prefectural Pottery Vocational Training School in 1959; studied under the first-generation master Zenpō
- Established his independent career in 1969 under the name "Zensho"
- Multiple awardee at prestigious exhibitions such as the Tanko Biennale and Kyoto Overglaze Ceramic Exhibitions
- Certified Traditional Craftsman since 2006
- Featured on NHK’s “The Art of Beauty” (Kyo-yaki edition)
- Received numerous honors including the Chairman’s Award at the Kyoto Ceramic Cooperative Federation
