Realistic, yet charming.
Enjoy a peaceful moment with your favorite cup.
Takanobu Sawada is a Kyoto-based ceramic artist who works in a studio surrounded by the lush forests of Nantan, Kyoto.
His pottery features realistic yet warm animal illustrations, lovingly shaped one by one to bring joy to your everyday table.
Each mug is carefully crafted for comfort and balance, with thoughtful details that fit naturally in your hand.
The soft white hue of the kohiki glaze enhances the gentle warmth unique to handmade Japanese ceramics.

The warmth of handmade Kyoto ceramic art
Instead of painting with a brush, Sawada uses a carving technique to etch animal designs directly into the kohiki surface.
Each line is full of movement and emotion, giving every piece a uniquely expressive feel.
The son of a traditional Kyoto ceramicist, Sawada has been immersed in pottery since childhood. Now in his 30s, he has over 20 years of experience and is widely respected for his craftsmanship.
Combining refined skill with a youthful eye, he creates one-of-a-kind works that carry the legacy of Kyo and Kiyomizu ware into everyday life.

With each cup, you can experience the timeless charm of Japanese craftsmanship through a modern, friendly lens.
Bring home a piece of Kyoto's ceramic tradition and enjoy its warmth in your daily routine.
