Realistic yet somehow adorable.
Relax and unwind with your favorite cup.
Takunobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in the satoyama (foothill villages) of Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates vessels featuring warm, realistic animals.
Each piece is carefully formed and carved with usability in mind when held.
The soft, milky white slip-coated (kohiki) base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcraftsmanship
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but created by scraping away the slip-coated surface.
Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm finished product.
Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kiyomizu-yaki potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been creating ceramics for 20 years.
At just 30 years old, he is a highly skilled craftsman who has reached the level of a veteran.

Sawada, who combines youthful sensibilities with refined techniques, creates unique vessels that are distinctly Kyoto.
Please experience their charm in your daily life.
