Realistic, yet somehow adorable.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.
Takunobu Sawada, a ceramic artist, has his studio in a satoyama (mountain village) in Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich nature, he creates vessels with warm, realistic animal designs.
Each piece is carefully molded, and the form is carved with ease of use in mind.
The soft, milky white kohiki (powder-applied slipware) base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcraftsmanship
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but are created by scraping away the kohiki base.
Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm artistic expression.
Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware/Kiyomizu ware potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and already has 20 years of experience in ceramics.
Even in his thirties, he is a craftsman with solid skills, having reached the level of a veteran.

Mr. Sawada, who combines youthful sensibilities with refined skills, creates highly original vessels unique to Kyoto.
Please experience their charm in your daily life.
