Realistic, yet somehow adorable.
Relax with your favorite mug.

Takanobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich nature, he creates pottery adorned with warm and realistic depictions of animals.

Each piece is meticulously formed and sculpted, considering ease of use when held in the hand.

The soft, milky white slip-ware base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Pottery with the warmth of handmade craftsmanship

The animal designs are not painted with a brush, but rather created by scraping away the slip-ware base.

Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm aesthetic.

Takanobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoyaki-Kiyomizuyaki potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and already has 20 years of experience.

At just 30 years old, he is a highly skilled craftsman who has reached the level of a veteran.

Sawada combines youthful sensibility with refined technique to create original pottery unique to Kyoto.

We invite you to experience its charm in your daily life.
