Realistic yet somehow endearing. Take a break with your favorite cup.
Takunobu Sawada is a potter with a studio in the satoyama (foothills) of Nantan City, Kyoto.
Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates vessels depicting animals that are realistic yet warm.
Each piece is carefully formed, and the shape is carved with ease of use in mind when held.
The soft, milky white slip-ware base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Handcrafted Vessels that Evoke a Sense of Warmth
The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but are expressed by scratching off the slip-ware base.
Each line has movement, resulting in a finish that exudes unique artistry and warmth.
Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware and Kiyomizu ware potter, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and has already been creating pottery for 20 years.
At 30 years old, he is an experienced craftsman with solid techniques.

Sawada, who combines youthful sensibility with refined techniques, creates original vessels unique to Kyoto.
Please experience its charm in your daily life.
