Realistic yet somehow endearing.
Take a break with your favorite cup.

Takunobu Sawada, a ceramist, has his studio in a satoyama (rural landscape) in Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates vessels with warm, realistic depictions of animals.

Each piece is carefully formed and sculpted with usability in mind when held.

The soft, milky-white kohiki (slipware) body enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that exude the warmth of craftsmanship

The animal patterns are not drawn with a brush but created by scraping away the kohiki slip.

Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and warm artistic quality.

Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a Kyoto ware/Kiyomizu ware ceramist, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and already has 20 years of experience in ceramic art.

At just over 30, he is a craftsman with proven skills, reaching the level of a veteran.

Mr. Sawada, who combines youthful sensibility with refined techniques, creates highly original vessels unique to Kyoto.

Please experience their charm in your daily life.

Shop owner's comment

This piece is shaped using the intricate "tatara" method, resulting in a flat and easy-to-use form.

This plate is perfectly sized for cakes, pastries, side dishes, or serving salads. It's a highly versatile vessel that's useful to have multiple of.

A delightful piece with expressive animals, fun just to look at.

Please find your favorite.
