Realistic, yet irresistibly charming.
Relax with your favorite cup in hand.
In the countryside of Nantan, Kyoto, ceramic artist Takanobu Sawada creates pottery surrounded by the beauty of nature.
His works depict animals with a warm and realistic touch—each one full of character and charm.
Every piece is carefully hand-shaped, with the final form refined for comfort and ease of use in your hand.
The soft, milky-white *kohiki* glaze brings out the natural warmth and texture of ceramic clay.

A Plate that Carries the Warmth of the Artist’s Hand
Instead of painting with a brush, Sawada hand-carves each animal motif by scraping the *kohiki* surface.
The lively lines and expressive details bring out the individuality and warmth of each piece.
The son of a Kyo and Kiyomizu-ware ceramic artist, Sawada has been immersed in pottery since childhood and now has over 20 years of experience.
Though still in his 30s, his mastery of technique places him among the most accomplished artisans.

Blending youthful creativity with refined craftsmanship, Sawada’s work captures the originality of Kyoto tradition. We hope you enjoy these pieces in your everyday life.

Owner's Comment
This plate is shaped using the traditional *tatara* technique, which involves carefully hand-forming flat sheets of clay—a labor-intensive process that results in a flat, versatile design.
It’s the perfect size for desserts, small dishes, or salads—practical for any occasion, and you’ll find yourself reaching for it often.
The carved animal figures add a whimsical charm, making each plate a joy to use and admire.
I hope you’ll discover a favorite among these delightful pieces.
