Founded in 1917, the Syunzan Kiln is known for its unique style that blends the tradition of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pottery with modern sensibilities.
The auspicious "Asanoha" (hemp leaf) pattern is depicted using the intricate technique of Ittin-mori (raised slip decoration).

The Ittin-mori technique, which involves squeezing out white clay to create a raised design, requires a high level of skill and precision.
The contrast between the reddish-brown pottery and the white decorative pattern creates a beautiful and striking piece.
This small bowl is perfect for serving pickles or small sweets, and it embodies the traditional craftsmanship of Kiyomizu-ware, making it an excellent choice for any collection.
