“Puppy” by Nakamura Hōchū – *Kōrin Gafu*, Edo period, 1802
Collection of the National Institute of Japanese Literature
A Beloved Edo-Era Painting, Reborn in Clay
Nakamura Hōchū, an artist from the Edo period, was known for his free-spirited and humorous brushwork.
His loose and charming portrayal of a puppy continues to warm hearts even centuries later.
This timeless artwork has now been brought to life as a handmade guinomi (sake cup) by a Kyoto ceramic artist, offering a delightful way to enjoy a touch of Japanese tradition in your hands.

Charming Round Form, Handcrafted with Care
Each piece is individually handcrafted with a soft, rounded form that fits comfortably in the palm of your hand.
With its playful shape and practical function as a sake cup, this guinomi is as enjoyable to use as it is to look at.
Take a moment to unwind—each sip brings a sense of calm and joy.

A Gentle Nod to a Playful Puppy
The way it gently rocks on the table is reminiscent of a puppy at play.
It’s a delightful presence that naturally brings a smile to your face.
Infuse your everyday moments with warmth and whimsy through this traditional Kyoto pottery creation, handmade in Japan.
