- Born 1959 in Kyoto City, second son of ceramic artist Masanori Maeda
- Trained in pottery under his father and studied sculpture with Prof. Kakuji Yamamoto
- Established his own kiln in Nishinoyama, Yamashina, Kyoto in 1995
