Matcha bowl by Ichinyo Yamamoto

A Vivid Matcha Bowl Crafted by a Master Artisan

Ichinyo Yamamoto, a veteran ceramic artist based in Uji, Kyoto, has dedicated more than half a century to Kyoto pottery and Kiyomizu-ware.

This handmade matcha bowl, vibrant like a piece of contemporary art, reflects his deep knowledge and refined traditional technique.

It is a special piece that adds a sense of luxury to your daily tea time. Perfect as a meaningful gift for someone important—or as a treat for yourself.

The Distinctive Color and Depth of Kōchi Glaze

The most striking feature of this piece is its translucent, brilliant color. This unique expression is made possible by the traditional Kyoto glaze known as Kōchi.

The raised decorative frames surrounding the motifs are sculpted carefully by hand, one by one.

Through skilled craftsmanship and delicate handwork, the bowl achieves an elegant, refined presence that is unmistakably Japanese and unmistakably handmade.

Bringing the Beauty of Kyoto Pottery Into Everyday Life

Years of experience and a sophisticated artistic sensibility come together in this masterful ceramic bowl.

It is a true representation of traditional Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware—perfect for anyone who wants to enjoy the finest expressions of Japanese pottery.

Ideal for tea gatherings, everyday moments of indulgence, or as an eye-catching display piece in your home.

Delivered in a Wooden Box

This matcha bowl comes in a handcrafted wooden box that complements the atmosphere of the artwork. The inscription on the lid is written by the artist himself, adding authenticity and collectible value.

It is suitable not only for personal use but also as a memorable gift. Perfect for celebrations, anniversaries, or seasonal greetings.

*Please allow approximately two weeks for the wooden box to be prepared.

Owner's Comment

This cylindrical bowl features a brilliant green glaze with a window motif of pine and bamboo—symbols of strength and purity in traditional Japanese art.

The translucent Kōchi glaze beautifully highlights the layered shades of green, evoking the quiet stillness of winter and the refreshing spirit of early spring.

A matcha bowl that carries the serene elegance characteristic of Ichinyo Yamamoto’s work.

Absolutely exquisite! I know very little about Kyoto ceramics, and had initially eyed it for its aesthetics. Am beginning to learn the many difficult and complex elements it implemented. Honoured to own this piece by Ichinyo. Thank you Kotopotter.

I had been searching for a tea bowl featuring Fujin and Raijin (the gods of wind and thunder) to match my thunder-themed tea caddy.

I've always liked slip-trailing designs, but I really love the arrangement and composition of this tea bowl.

Thank you so much for this wonderful item.

この度はお買い求めいただきありがとうございました。
またの御利用を心よりお待ちしております。
