From a Small Kiln Dedicated to Handcrafted Pottery

Dainichi Kiln is located near Kansyuji Temple in Kyoto.

Working alongside his father, Shigeo Takemura, Yotaro Takemura creates pottery that respects the traditions of Kiyomizu-ware while fitting naturally into modern daily life.

Using glazes made from natural materials and careful handcrafting, each piece is thoughtfully made one by one in a quiet, mountain-side workshop.

A Blue Gradient That Reflects the Sky and the Sea

The signature “Blue Glaze” series features a clear, luminous blue that feels as if it captures the sky or the sea within.

Based on turquoise, the glaze flows and blends from pale light blue to deep indigo tones.

Each piece is finished entirely by hand, and the way the glaze pools and the colors emerge is different every time—no two pieces are exactly the same.

The expression also changes depending on the light and viewing angle, revealing a quiet, shifting beauty.

Bringing a Touch of the Extraordinary to Your Table

Blue glaze pieces pair beautifully not only with Japanese cuisine, but also with Western dishes.

The transparency and calm presence of the vessel gently highlight the food, turning an everyday table into something just a little more special.

A quiet comfort that you feel each time you use it. Recommended both for everyday use and as a gift.

Owner’s Comment

A flawlessly balanced form, carefully finished on the wheel, and a beautiful blue gradient like clear ocean water.

It has the presence of an art piece, yet it is also practical and works beautifully on the everyday dining table.
