Yaki-Shime Firing that Enhances the Flavor of Tea

The teapots of Chubin Kiln are finished using the traditional yaki-shime technique, fired without glaze.

When clay is fired at high temperatures, tiny pores form in the ceramic body. It is often said that these pores help soften the bitterness of tea and bring out a smoother flavor.

The natural, unglazed surface and calm earthy tones are part of the charm of this traditional Japanese pottery technique.

A Refined Form that Highlights the Character of Clay

The design is intentionally simple, allowing the natural landscape of the clay to remain visible.

Subtle color variations and textures appear during firing, giving each piece a slightly different expression.

The understated and balanced form fits naturally into everyday tea moments.

Enjoy Tea with Care, Every Day

Perfect for brewing Japanese teas such as sencha, gyokuro, or hojicha.

With continued use, the surface of the yaki-shime clay gradually develops a deeper character and becomes more familiar in the hand.

A tea vessel that encourages the simple pleasure of preparing tea with care.
