Realistic yet somehow adorable.
Take a moment to relax with your favorite cup.

Takunobu Sawada is a ceramic artist with a studio in the satoyama (foothill forest) of Nantan City, Kyoto.

Surrounded by rich natural scenery, he creates vessels adorned with realistic yet warm depictions of animals.

Each piece is carefully shaped, with forms carved out to ensure ease of use when held.

The soft, milky white slip-ware base enhances the gentle texture unique to pottery.

Vessels that convey the warmth of handcrafted work

The animal designs are not painted with a brush, but rather created by scraping away the slip-ware base.

Each line has movement, resulting in a unique and heartwarming finish.

Takunobu Sawada, whose father is a ceramic artist of Kyo-yaki/Kiyomizu-yaki ware, has been familiar with pottery since childhood and already has 20 years of experience.

At just over 30 years old, he is a craftsman with proven skills, having reached the level of a veteran.

Sawada, who combines youthful sensibilities with refined skills, creates highly original vessels unique to Kyoto.

We invite you to experience their charm in your daily life.

Shop Owner's Comment

This is a convenient mug with ample capacity.

The handle is large and wide, fitting securely in the hand and making it very easy to hold.

The animal designs covering the entire vessel are all wonderfully expressive and so captivating that you can't help but stare.

Please find your favorite piece.
