Matcha Bowl with Seasonal Flowers and Plants
This matcha bowl is by Komeizan Kiln, which has been in business for four generations in Gojozaka, Kyoto. Featuring flowers and plants that color Japan's four seasons, it expresses the beautiful scenery of each season within the vessel. Amidst its vibrant colors, one can sense the rustic beauty of nature, making it a bowl that adds seasonal charm not only to tea ceremonies but also to daily tea breaks.

Elegant Colors Drawn with Traditional Japanese Pigments
At Komeizan Kiln, each piece is hand-painted, valuing traditional Japanese pigments. The subtle unevenness and three-dimensionality created by layering colors with delicate brushwork and carefully applying the pigments are also significant features.
The soft hues, intricate depictions, and the brushstrokes unique to hand-painting create a harmonious blend of the ceramic's warm texture and vibrant artwork. The rich expression can be enjoyed from various angles and under different lighting conditions.

Komeizan Kiln's Vessels, Following the Tradition of Kenzan
The artistic style of Komeizan Kiln inherits the aesthetic sensibility of Ogata Kenzan, a representative potter of the Edo period. Kenzan was a master craftsman who left behind numerous free and elegant works, combining the rustic texture of ceramics with pictorial painting, using familiar natural subjects like flowers and plants.
Komeizan Kiln's vessels utilize the warm textures unique to earthenware while gracefully depicting nature's four seasons. Inheriting the aesthetic sensibilities of Kyo-yaki, which originated with Kenzan, these matcha bowls are finished to be vibrant and approachable, enjoyable even in modern daily life.

Comment from the Owner
This is a vibrant matcha bowl from Komeizan Kiln, featuring blooming cherry blossoms and vividly colored autumn leaves.
It expresses two beautiful Japanese seasons by depicting cherry blossoms, symbolizing spring, and autumn leaves that dye the mountains like brocade, all within a single bowl. The plump, raised painting created with translucent Japanese pigments is also a highlight.
This is a bowl to be enjoyed year-round, allowing you to appreciate the splendid scenery of spring and autumn, and the elegant colors characteristic of Kyo-yaki, all at once.
