Matcha Bowl – Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji, Sudden Shower over Shin-Ōhashi Bridge, KOTOPOTTER

Reviving a Japanese Masterpiece — The Artisan’s Trio of Bowls

Created by Ichinyo Yamamoto, a Kyoto-based potter of Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware whose studio is located in Uji, this exceptional piece reflects more than half a century of ceramic mastery.

Inspired by Katsushika Hokusai’s legendary “Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji”, this matcha bowl captures the timeless spirit of Japanese art through traditional Kyoto pottery techniques.

The Vibrant Colors and Texture of Kōchi Glaze

The charm of this work lies in its translucent brilliance and vivid color palette, made possible by the traditional Kōchi glaze unique to Kyoto ceramics.

Each raised frame surrounding the design is meticulously built up by hand, creating a striking three-dimensional effect that brings the artwork to life.

The result is an exquisite matcha bowl—crafted with refined handwork and masterful technique—that embodies both tradition and sophistication.

Owner’s Comment

A stunning matcha bowl that beautifully recreates Katsushika Hokusai’s Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji.

The deep gloss and dimensional texture achieved only through Kōchi glaze make this a true work of traditional Japanese pottery.

A timeless piece of art that lets you experience the elegance of Kyoto ceramics in the palm of your hand.

Absolutely exquisite! I know very little about Kyoto ceramics, and had initially eyed it for its aesthetics. Am beginning to learn the many difficult and complex elements it implemented. Honoured to own this piece by Ichinyo. Thank you Kotopotter.

I had been searching for a tea bowl featuring Fujin and Raijin (the gods of wind and thunder) to match my thunder-themed tea caddy.

I've always liked slip-trailing designs, but I really love the arrangement and composition of this tea bowl.

Thank you so much for this wonderful item.

この度はお買い求めいただきありがとうございました。
またの御利用を心よりお待ちしております。
