A Vivid Matcha Bowl Shaped by a Master of Kyoto Pottery
Ichinyo Yamamoto, a ceramic artist based in Uji, Kyoto, specializes in traditional Kyo-ware and Kiyomizu-ware pottery.
With over fifty years of experience, he creates handmade ceramic matcha bowls that combine technical precision with striking artistic presence.
This is a piece that elevates everyday moments into something more intentional and refined.
Ideal as a meaningful gift or as a distinguished addition to your collection of Japanese pottery.

Brilliant Color and Sculptural Depth of Kōchi Glaze
The defining feature of this piece is its luminous, transparent color.
Finished in Kōchi glaze—an expressive glazing tradition unique to Kyoto—this bowl achieves a clarity and vibrancy rarely seen in ceramic work.
The raised framing around the motifs is carefully built up by hand, creating dimensional depth across the surface.
Every detail reflects the discipline and refinement of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Kyoto Ceramic Art for Modern Living
This matcha bowl represents the union of decades of technical mastery and sophisticated design.
A masterful example of traditional Kyoto pottery, it can be used in tea gatherings, enjoyed as a daily ritual piece, or displayed as a distinctive decorative accent.
It embodies the enduring elegance of handmade Japanese ceramic art.

Presented in a Wooden Box
This matcha bowl is delivered in a wooden presentation box selected to complement the character of the piece.
The lid is inscribed by the artist’s own hand, serving as both authentication and an extension of the work itself.
Suitable for personal use or as a thoughtful gift for celebrations and seasonal occasions.
Please allow up to two weeks for the wooden box to be prepared.

Owner's Comment
This matcha bowl features a deep indigo ground, with pale blue auspicious clouds (zuiun) drifting across the surface.
The gently triangular form introduces subtle movement, as if responding to the flow of the clouds themselves.
Zuiun motifs have long been appreciated in Japan as symbols of good fortune, quietly adding a celebratory tone to the design.
The crisp brilliance of Kōchi glaze and the sculptural silhouette come together in a piece that reflects Ichinyo Yamamoto’s distinctive sense of balance and refinement.
