From a Small Kiln in Kyoto
Dainichi Kiln, located near Kansyuji Temple in Kyoto, is a small family-run workshop.
Father Shigeo Takemura and his son Yotaro create pieces that respect the tradition of Kiyomizu-ware while blending seamlessly into modern life.
Each piece is crafted with natural glazes and careful handmade work, made one at a time in their quiet mountain studio.

A Blue Glaze Inspired by Sky and Sea
The kiln’s signature Hekiyu (blue glaze) series reflects the serene beauty of sky and sea.
From vibrant turquoise to pale aqua and deep indigo, the glaze flows together naturally, creating a unique gradient on every mug.
Because each item is handmade, variations in glaze and shading ensure no two are ever exactly alike.
The expression changes with light and angle, offering the beauty of living, traditional Japanese ceramic artistry.

A Touch of Elegance for the Table
The Hekiyu glaze pairs beautifully not only with Japanese cuisine but also with Western dishes, making it versatile for any occasion.
Its quiet transparency and depth enhance the presentation of food and drink, transforming everyday meals into something special.
Practical enough for daily use yet refined enough for gifting, this handmade Kyoto pottery piece combines tradition and modern design.
