From a Small Kiln in Kyoto
Dainichi Kiln, located near Kansyuji Temple in Kyoto, is a small family-run pottery workshop.
Father Shigeo Takemura and his son Yotaro create pieces that stay close to the Kiyomizu-ware tradition while blending naturally into modern life.
Each item is crafted with natural glazes and careful handwork, made one by one in their quiet mountain studio.

A Blue Glaze Inspired by Sky and Sea
The kiln’s signature Hekiyu (blue glaze) series captures the serene beauty of the sky and sea.
From turquoise to pale aqua and deep indigo, the flowing glaze creates a natural gradient unique to each mug.
Since every piece is handmade, variations in glaze and color ensure that no two are ever alike.
The appearance changes with light and angle, offering the charm of living, traditional Japanese ceramic artistry.

A Touch of Elegance for the Table
The Hekiyu glaze harmonizes beautifully with both Japanese and Western cuisine, making it versatile for any dining style.
Its calm transparency and depth highlight food and drink gently, turning everyday dining into a more refined experience.
Perfect for personal use or as a thoughtful gift, this handmade Kyoto pottery piece combines traditional craftsmanship with modern elegance.
