Kyoto Jiucasca pottery plate

Botanical Designs Rooted in Kyoto's Ceramic Tradition

Located in a peaceful residential area of Kyoto, Jiucasca is a new studio founded by young ceramic artist Asami Maeda.

The name Jiucasca reflects her desire to create handmade ceramics that gently enrich everyday life—like a soft drizzle that nourishes the earth.

Her pottery, inspired by the natural scenery surrounding Mount Hiei, features delicate botanical motifs and embodies the quiet beauty of traditional Japanese craftsmanship.

Refined Skills, Deep Sensibility

Maeda began her artistic journey studying painting and philosophy, which deeply inform her creative approach.

While inheriting traditional Kyo-ware techniques, she expresses her unique sensibility through soft, contemporary designs—adding a breath of fresh air to Kyoto’s ceramic scene.

Thoughtful Pieces for Everyday Living

“I want to honor the relationship between maker and user.” This philosophy underpins Maeda’s work, which balances aesthetic charm with everyday usability.

Her calm color palette and soft forms naturally complement your dining table, offering a quiet sense of comfort with every use.
